approved premises aims

  1. To ensure that the requirements of the statutory orders are met.
  2. To promote a responsible and law-abiding lifestyle and respect for others.
  3. To create a positive and constructive environment in which residents can address their offending behaviour, acquire survival skills and make life-changing decisions.
  4. Create and maintain a constructive relationship between the staff and residents.
  5. Facilitate the work aimed at reducing the risk of further offending.
  6. To provide a level of Public Protection for local residents.
  7. Assist residents to keep or find employment and to develop the appropriate skills to secure education/training/employment in due course.
  8. Encourage and enable residents to use the hostel facilities (groupwork programme and linkwork meetings), local community facilities, and to develop their ability to be able to look after themselves when they move on from Cardigan House.
  9. Establish and maintain good relations with neighbours and the community in general.
