story 1

This man had served a term of imprisonment before being released on licence to Cardigan House.  He was thirty-eight years of age.  His offending was mainly to finance his drug habit.

The Initial Assessment revealed a number of problems directly relating to his offending behaviour.  These included drugs, decision-making, basic skills, employment, accommodation, lifestyle and associates and mental health.

He was a resident at Cardigan House for six months.

In that period, he undertook a detox under the supervision of our Addiction Therapist and Doctor, and became drug-free.

He attended college on a part-time basis completing a course and receiving very positive comments from his tutor.

He completed an intensive one-to-one course in Cardigan House, and was the first person to complete such a programme in West Yorkshire.

There were no mental health problems during his period in Cardigan House.

He secured suitable accommodation, with an appropriate level of support and is now settled into his new home.

He continues to attend college and hopes to secure employment in his chosen field of work.

It is now over a year since he was released from custody, and during that time he has not reoffended and the risk of further offending is now low.

He was very motivated to address his problems, remained focussed throughout his stay, and has proved that it is possible to turn round your life with appropriate help and support.
